Living with the past.... “Round pecks in square holes”

“One of the most cruel thing a human being could do to the self is living with their past”……………..

Many have wondered why they have so much mental pain, hurt, frustration, disappointments, worries and being unproductive……… But fail to neither get an answer nor ignore to admit the answer. For those who are experiencing all the above said, check deep down in the mind or heart they are for sure to be living with something from the past.

When one gets hurt, he faces the pain and frustration, then copes with it and stores it in the memory. The problem arises when that memory is not given up for good. Bad memories when held for a long time in the mind, it becomes a pleasure and it gives much satisfaction whenever rekindled. In the long run one feels nice to keep all this past in them and lament over it because it gives them a kind of satisfaction. This is just like drug abuse though it feels good but the implication is of noting of good. Medaling on that past memory and using it to justify current scenario is the root cause of all hindrances one faces.

Past memories, when it becomes a mindset to modulate current happenings will only result to imperfections like putting in round pecks in square holes though it may go in but it causes hurt and pain as the situations and the people related in the past and current are totally different. Check a simple common scenario of a woman hating all men because one cheated her in the past or vice versa (the avoidance of a new relationship is the result of the act of “living with the past”

Analogically clinging to past memories is like holding a knife with no handles, Though you get comfortable and master on holding it yet the longer it is held then the more hurt it causes, for those who still deep down still living with your past, it’s time to let go of the knife and move on with life…… It’s pointless to do so!

Life has a lot more to offer which is fun and great then the valueless past which can never be revisited nor amended but only learned……..

Throw the knife with no handles and start putting round pecks in round holes, save the hurt, pain and all emotional stressors which only hold’s you back by creating an energy drain whereas without them a human being can be optimistic in life towards achievements.

Salad Bowl Unity

“Unity to be real must stand the severest strain without breaking” ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Unity as the word says brings the meaning of oneness! There is an issue of oneness but as simple as the word sounds, unity is not so! Unity or being united means more than many perceive. It can be divided into two which is;

1. Agreeing and coming together for a common identity or agenda

2. Patronizing a common goal / agenda / ideology totally even by sacrificing the self-interest / ideology/ importance / gains for the common goal

Now the first part is not much of a trouble and that is where many are good at, Freezing the condition at this point and calling it as unity would be an act of hypocrisy because at this state one can’t say that the state of togetherness is unity but rather just a surface of common togetherness

e.g. a group of individuals from different background like a certain restaurant and visits to the place without fail – this state can be called ‘togetherness on a common ground” Unity is far more that the feeling of togetherness!

Now the 2nd part is best described with the analogy in place where the same eating outlet is under the threat of demolition, the same group of individuals can put aside their differences, dispute, personal comfort and time and all other attachments and come for the rescue of the said outlet then unity is in action

When the second scenario takes place in a nation on defending the country or dealing with the national issue despite their difference and personal importance then the nation is worth to be called united or in unity

It’s a difficult task to stand united when clear cut differences are in existence and visible this is best described in an analogy of a salad bowl, there are many different types of food put into the salad bowl, the combination of all makes up ONE single dish called salad but each type of food still maintains its nature and qualities despite sharing the bowl with many other and they would sacrifice their individuality when named as a salad

e.g. a tomato in a salad is still a tomato when put in but yet we call it a salad then after being in the salad bowl thus the tomato has lost its individuality by being assimilated in a larger varied group. This is the type of unity practiced by Malaysia or supposed to be practiced in Malaysia.

Disputes and unity crushing incidents crop up in Malaysia at times due to certain individuals or group tends to give emphasis on the individuality said before e.g. the tomato demands more attention and recognition being in the salad bowl among many others

Unlike other nations like the US or the Indonesia which rather plays a totally varied ball game on unity by having the melting pot concept where by it is a total opposite of having all differences eliminated by boiling it down to a single substance i.e. the nation, this in other word can be said as an induced assimilation which does not permit varied identities to be maintained

We as Malaysians should always be thankful for the ‘Salad Bowl” model unity being practiced here and it allows each and every one to maintain their very own culture, value, norms & faith with peace and freedom. The key to sustain and maintain peace & harmony would be “TOLERANCE” with proper tolerance , mutual respect and understanding, The salad bowl would always remain a wonderful dish and pleasant to the eye of the world with its very own uniqueness as a twist of the lemon !

Happy Malaysia Day Malaysia !

Reasons & wanting’s …….

“People need something or someone to fasten themselves to in order to reassure themselves that they are real.” `Ani Difranco

What do we really want? Is the probably the toughest question to answer by almost any one of us!

Simple because we are all living in a confines scope of life, life is all about earning good figures and having comfortable life plus having some posh possessions but is that all to life ! There must be a reason for the life we live between birth and death

“Economic beings” so are we when we grasp a good education to acquire a good job prospect to get a good income, that’s what life is and about till the end! Moving on we live then for responsibilities again then for funding the family or off springs there we go again after being economic beings for ourselves then comes being economic beings for family and children

Life is surely has more to it if we can break free from the delusion of “Economic being” all the chase and craze of being the Economic being have made many to forget over being the “HUMAN BEING” this results to the inhuman scenarios which is rising !
Anyone today who is left out from grabbing the economic benefit falls into the tendency of getting into crime nor violence to get his economic share in such ways this is the result of all other being an economic being technically !

Happiness is abstract and not measurable, the proof for this lies in the question of how much of happiness is an ultimate happiness for oneself? None can answer to that due to the abstractness of happiness thus it may not be materialistic gains or dollars & cents are the yardstick of happiness!

When we can stop a moment and think as a human, then we would realize the fact not only money or things makes us happy there are also other things like a child’s smile and joy to see the mother / father home early !

Lets look back at the “reasons of our wanting” is it truly worth? Is it a wanting of the economic being or the human being? ……….

Just a sharing
